Test Team review: Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum
Posted: Thursday 21 October 2010 04:49pm
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum has been specifically formulated to address loss of firmness and hydration within the skin. This beautiful serum is said to improve skin within five days of use.
The secret is a concentrated anti-ageing amino-peptide complex and vitamin B3/Niacinamide, which help improve the skin’s visible firmness and overall youthful appearance.
It also contains a Multi-Faceted Turgor Boost, which improves hydration, and Power Release Technology, which works to deliver anti-ageing ingredients faster, and over a longer period of time. Finally, Hyaluronic Acid acts as a moisture net to keep the skin hydrated! Pro- vitamin B5/panthenol, vitamin E and green tea extract also protect and nourish skin.
This week, Younger You fans test and review Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum. Here’s what they thought!

I love trying new products, so was very excited to test Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum. It has a beautiful silky texture that absorbs quickly, you don’t need to use a lot as a little goes a long way. My skin felt smooth and nicely moisturised after application and did not leave any shine or residue so it would be great for under makeup.
I always prefer a pump applicator like this one, so the active ingredients remain stable and are not exposed to the open air.
I haven’t been using it long enough to notice any changes in my skin, but in time hope to see some improvements in firmness and hydration.
I would use this product alone or under my suncream during the day and as a rich night treatment under my regular night cream.
I would recommend this product to anybody.

I have used other Olay products before and have been very happy with them. The micro-sculpting serum is no exception. I haven’t been using the serum long enough to see a noticeable difference to some of my “laugh lines” but it does make my skin feel very soft and smooth all day. Other creams I have used need to be applied more than once during the day as my skin dries out but my skin was still soft and hydrated at the end of the day when I used this serum.
The only negative comment about the serum would be the packaging. I think it is too dark and would look better if there were some lighter colours on the packaging. Otherwise I really like the product and would buy it and recommend it to others.

I was thrilled to try the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum. I have always been one to use lots of different moisturizers and eye creams. I found the Olay to have an extremely soft refined texture and to go on easily and be absorbed straight away there was no feeling of being clogged with cream after using the product. I feel it hydrated extremely well and my skin felt soft and silky afterwards. I am not a favourite of the pump as I feel I cannot not get enough of the product the first time and you have to pump it a few times to get the amount needed. I always use product on my entire face neck and use the residue on my decollatage.
My skin does look smooth and silky but I dont see much of a difference with small lines but I do feel it would help with long term use.
The packaging was good I feel it looked more upmarket with the darker packaging than the white but thats my opinion.
I would use this product again and would recommend it to others.
I am not a regular user of Olay.

My initial reaction when I received this product was good. The bottle was a nice size, as well as being light and solid, which would be great when travelling. Overall, the packaging was of Olay’s usual good standards. Like a previous reveiwer, though, I felt that the colour of the bottle was a little too dark.
I like creams with a pump-action applicator, but I found that the pump was a little too clunky and I had to press it about 5 or 6 times to get the desired amount. The actual cream, however, had a very nice, light smell and it absorbed into my skin very quickly. My skin was left feeling soft, as well as taut and smooth, and I couldn’t help but touch my skin after the first application. After a few days though I found sometimes it left my skin feeling a little too sticky. Perhaps I had used too much on those occasions…
Overall, I enjoyed using this product and it left my skin feeling nourished and smooth. I liked the fact that it was for both day and night use, and that I could apply it around the eye area. Retailing at around $50, I don’t think I would buy this product regularly. At present, my usual cream is Olay Total Effects and I think that that is a slightly better product for me than the serum. However, I think that I would tell my friends about this product.

I was really excited to test Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum. It retails at $50 ,so not something I would buy just to try.
I enjoyed using this product and will continue to use it to the very last drop.
It has a lovely silky texture, absorbs well and quickly. It has a very subtle but lovely soft perfume. My skin felt softer from the first application, it really does leave my skin silky soft. Today is the 5th day and the claim on the packaging is a noticeable difference in 5 days. I can honestly say yes,my skin feels softer, more hydrated and smooth. Like another reviewer I can’t help touching it .The deep line from my nose to mouth has softened and the area around my eyes has lost its “crepey”look. Its not a miracle though and I still have some fine lines. Overall though, the product is doing what it says it does, by hydrating my skin and giving my face a much softer look.
Because it absorbs so well , It’s great under makeup and with mineral makeup I felt like I had nothing on my face all day, no clogging, no stickyness at all.
The packaging is quite nice, though not “pretty” ,its looking for an “elegant” look, which it has achieved. I like the pump as the contents are not exposed to the air and it cant spill. The only downside of the pump for me is I have arthritic hands and had to fiddle a bit to get it to a position in my hand that I could get it to work, as it is small and my hands are misshapen. Not a lot comes out of the pump on each press, but this i felt was good,it reminded me that a little goes a long way and not to waste it.
I have not used Olay products before.
I would definitely recommend this product and I’m saving my pennies for the next bottle.

The pakaging was quite hard to get open, with so many sticky tabs on them. I can imagine any older lady with arthritis would struggle with this.
Then I never imagined my sample would have a security tab on the side of the bottle that I tried to get off because it spoiled the look/appeal of the product. But after doing so it remained sticky and still some parts still remained on the bottle detracting from its’ appeal.
Using it twice a day, I did notice that my face felt tighter, although I didn’t see any visible difference in my skin.
My face needed a moisturiser after ever application, as it felt thirsty once the serum had soaked in. So I can see why they recommend their cream to go with the serum.
I was hoping that the lines on my forehead would see an improvement, but I can’t say that they have. So I am a little disappointed, as they promote this product as being as good as their $500 counterparts.
The colour of the bottle is a big issue as you can see in the other comments. The dark red colour I associate with women >50 or 60. If they lightened the colour even just slightly, it would give it a fresher younger feel, and they would probably sell more of this product to the women who are in their 30s and 40s.

Being quite loyal to one particular brand, I’ve never used Olay products before so this was a great opportunity to try something new at a fraction of the cost. Having recently had a laser procedure on my face I was keen to find a cost effective serum to wear under my moisturiser while my skin heals.
The texture is more like a cream than a gel or liquid serum, glides on smoothly and doesn’t leave a residue. The bottle size is great and larger than the average serum package. The pump applicator is a great idea for sanitation of the product although I also struggled with the clunkiness of it and found I didn’t get the desired product amount from just one or two pumps.
While I haven’t noticed any marked difference in my skin texture, I wasn’t really expecting to given my recent procedure. Do I think its a medical grade serum? No I don’t. However, I do think that if you’re only just beginning to exhibit the early signs of ageing this is a good quality and reasonably priced product to use under your moisturiser to begin combating the fine lines and lack of elasticity associated with the onset of ageing. And lets be honest we all want to do that. For those looking for a lower price point, this product is worth trying.

The product package was very nice, I liked the dark red container with the silver top and I liked pump action cream although I did have to pump a few times to get the right amount of serum that I wanted, also I seemed to need a fair amount of serum to cover my face and neck area.
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum has a pleasant smell and light texture which absorbs into the skin
leaving it feeling soft and silky and not at all greasy, also my face didn’t dry out during the day, it kept the soft silky feel.
I have tried a lot of different creams and although I haven’t been using it long enough to notice a difference in my skin yet I would still recommend it to others.
At the moment I have been using one cream for day, one for night and one for the eye area so I found it really handy that you can use the serum for all three.
Although it has a recommended retail price of $49.99 you can get it quite a bit cheaper if you shop around for it when it’s on special.

Along with other reviewers I agree that Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum was a silky cream that absorbed really well into my skin. I was able to replace my usual moisturiser with the serum so I only had to apply the one product under my foundation.
The big plus was that even in my 40′s my skin can be prone to break outs with certain creams but not with this product. Instead I noticed that my skin felt hydrated and looked fresher, smoother and less reddish.
I really liked the pump action applicator as I thought it led to less wasteage and thought the overall look of the product was one of sophistication.
Overall, I will certainly be using this product again and would recommend it to others who want to give their skin a fresher, smoother appearance.

I love experimenting with new products and was excited to try the Olay Regenerist Serum.
The product has a pump applicator, which is great, but I found (like other testers) that you had to push a number of times to get the required amount of serum. The serum is soft and has a silky texture and is absorbed very easily… I used it in conjunction with the Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream. I also liked the idea of being able to apply it under my eyes. I found the packaging to be a bit boring. Did it live up to it’s promise of a firmer, smoother and more youthful complexion? So far, after a couple of days I can’t notice a difference in my skin at all. I am in my 50′s, so maybe a product like this would be more effective for a target market of 35- 45.

I don”t like the dark red packaging as several other Reviewers have mentioned. Expect it was chosen to stand out on the shelves amongst all the other “Wrinkle Reducers”. The Serum does however stand out in it’s performance. I love the the way my skin feels, even after only a short time using the product. Also found that my least favourite sign of aging (left Naso-labial fold) has softened. I really hope that continued use will mean futher improvement there, and around my eyes. The pump action container is very functional and the price (particularly if you shop around for the product on special) is really good. Only real problem PLEASE Olay reduce the packaging so that I can purchase your products with a clear conscience.

First impression: the sleek packaging looks sophisticated, reminded me of a line from an expensive cosmetic brand my mum used to buy. The pump makes it more hygienic to use – I don’t like dipping my fingers directly in serums/creams. Unlike the others I didn’t find the pump clunky. So packaging wise: I’m sold – apart from the stickiness left after removing the security tab.
Now to the product itself. I like the scent, the smooth, light texture of the serum that’s quickly absorbed, though it can be a tad sticky if I used too much. Generally one pump is enough to do my whole neck & decolletage. I specifically focused on those two areas because they look much, much older than my age (mid 30s). I have obvious deep lines/wrinkles on my neck, plus slight slacking of the neck skin, it’s embarrassing… In short, my face looks like I’m in my 20s, but my neck says I’m a couple of decades older!!!
The PR info says, “Firmer skin in 5 days: Myth or Reality”. The box says, “Dramatically firms the appearance of sagging-prone areas – around the eyes, jaw line, and neck.” I was intrigued to see whether it’s really true.
I’ve used the serum for 5 days, twice a day, on it’s own, without putting moisturiser on top of it (so I can assess the product’s effectiveness better). My skin feels smoother, more moisturised, though no noticeable lessening of the depth of pesky neck lines. So, if “firmer skin” means more moisturised skin and a bit less slacking of the neck skin, I can honestly say that it holds up to it’s claim. An impressive result for something that costs less than $50. I’ve used serums that cost much more, without experiencing a result that’s close to this one. More affordable + better performance = I like!
I personally think I need to use the serum much longer before (hopefully) seeing better improvements around my neck. And now that I’ve seen it works, I’m hoping by using my usual moisturiser on top would help to give better result. Fingers crossed….
Overall: I love this serum and I will keep on using it based on the result I’ve seen in this short period of time. I would recommend this serum to others without hesitation. Totally impressed.

Being a long time Olay user and fan (I usually use Olay Total Effects), I had high expectations of this product. My skin felt noticeably smoother and softer after using Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum for just two days. After five days of using this product, the texture of my skin has improved and it feels soft and silky. I have not noticed any difference in firmness as yet, but am hoping that this will occur with continued usage. I am almost 50 years of age, so skin firmness is important to me!
The product is non-greasy and absorbs easily. I found that I needed moisturiser as well, as it was not moisturising enough for my skin type.
It is easy to apply to the skin, but I found the pump pack frustrating because it dispensed such small amounts at a time. Although I thought the packaging was streamlined and elegant, I would like to be able to see how much product is left in the bottle. This is not possible as the bottle is opaque.
This product is a useful addition to the basic skincare regime of anyone looking for a firming treatment. I would recommend it to anyone concerned about the early signs of aging, to be used in conjunction with your usual skincare routine.

my first impression was the packaging was elegant, i did not mind the colour of the bottle, but given a peference i think a frosted glass would be nicer and enable me to see how much was left, but glass does add to price, and though rrp is 49.99 i have seen it for sale at $37.oo which i think is reasonable.
at first i did not mind the pump applicator, but after a few days it did become a nuisance, i kept thinking it was working, it needed more pump if you get what i mean.
now to the serum, it did look like a small amount, but as said before it did go a long way, i too like the silky texture and the light fragrance, on application it did absorb into my skin straight away, there was no clogginess, no sticky residue which i thought was great, it immediatlty made my skin feel great, and gave me inner confidence, i felt it hydrated all day no need to feel i needed to reapply befor bedtime.
has a smoker i have deep burrows around my lip area so i paid attention to this and also around under my eyes, though i did apply as directed on the box and made sure i did not forget the jawline and neck area.
so after 6days of using it now i am impressed, my skin feels great, i can see a an improvement in the lines around my mouth, i dn’t think any product would make them dissappear but seems like olay have helped reduce them.
i would buy this product again and have already added it to my christmas wishlist, i suggest for those tempted but not sure to do the same thing, you will be pleasently surprised.

The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum surprises me a bit when I first try it;it has a refreshing smell of apple. If you like the smell of apple, then I think you’ll at least like the smell of it.
The serum is smooth and my skin absorbs it very quickly. My skin feels firm after its application , and there’s a cooling feeling when I am applying it.
The packaging of the serum is very secure,we can make sure that it hasn’t been opened before if we see the seals of both the top and the end of the box are not opened.Even the inside of the box of the serum is also very secure,it’s protected by a clear plastic.I like the pump design of the bottle because I can make sure the serum stay fresh all the time and it makes no mess after each application.

Great product. Easy to apply and didnt leave any heavy feeling afterward. You only have to use a small amount and in the short time I have been using it I have noticed fading to my sun spots. Definitely worth a try

Firstly, sorry it’s taken so long for this review to turn up! This Olay product is quite amazing. I’ve used other basic Olay products before and they’ve always felt good on the skin, but this is the first time that I can see how the product is actually doing something significant to how I look. After a few weeks of use, I’m certain that texture is smoother, without feeling an uncomfortable tightness, but more importantly I can clearly see how my face is more even in tone. Also, a big plus that I’ve had no reactions or breakouts from it at all. Only down side is spending the $50 when this first bottle runs out, eeks!

Firstly I would to comment saying thank you to Younger You for allowing me to be apart of your test team! I have always been an Olay fan so reviewing their product wasn’t a chore for me at all. My favourite colour is red so no complaints about the packaging I think it looked classy and expensive too which is always a plus for me. The scent was a pleasant fragrance and wasn’t too strong at all. The pump is very simple to use and as everyone would agree there’s nothing worse than trying to figure out how to use a product or undo the packaging. The texture wasn’t too thick it was nice and silky and left my face feeling very soft. I think you get enough product for the price and I will definitely be purchasing the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum again! Thank you Younger You and Olay. Bravo on a great product.

I’m so sorry Younger You my review is so late I was so into my Olay Regenerist Cream I totally forgot about writing up a review! I’m an Olay girl at heart always have been and always will be. I was over the moon when I found out I was trialling this product and gee was I happy with it. I seen results almost instantly my face felt fresher than ever my blemishes disappeared and my skin which is usually dry felt extremely soft. The packaging looked very elegant however my only negative comment and I can see a lot of other people feel the same I think the dark red is a bit too dark and it looks a lot for the older market 45-60. The fragrance was soft I know a lot of other serums have that real chemical smell. The texture wasn’t to cluggy but it wasn’t to thin it was medium. The Olay Regenerist serum is very generous you do get what you pay for. I would without doubt recommend this serum to other people and with pleasure purchase it.
