This shape creates an illusion of thicker and fuller hair, created by a shorter undercut beneath the longer layers. But while white/grey hair is very much `on trend’ I think that warmer blonde tones (next image) would give a healthier glow to Helen’s complexion.”

While Nicole has an incredible ability to defy the aging process with picture perfect skin and an athletic physique, poker straight hair is not a great option for her,” says Craig Smith. “Hair that has been ironed within an inch of its life tends to create the illusion of the face being ‘dragged down’.”

“This styling option of loose natural curls is a much better option for Nicole,” says Craig, “adding youthful body and volume. The hair is also less contrived here and the warmer highlight tones compliment Nicole’s naturally warm skin tone and piercing blue eyes.”

“If you are blessed with the natural canvas of a 30-year-old, with age-defying genes often seen with Latin American women such as Salma, styling choices can make or break an ageing look,” says Craig Smith. “This style is far too traditional (in an old kind of way!) and very contrived. Not a cool look for Salma!”

“This is a much better option for Salma,” says Craig. “The high ponytail is bang on trend and is a style that always conveys effortless youthfulness. By creating a little volume through a slightly backcombed crown area and pulling the sides of the ponytail a little tighter, the face is instantly lifted and Salma’s killer cheekbones are accentuated.”
