Audrey Hepburn under the knife

The artists’ knife that is.
A draft of a promotional photograph for the movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s with pencil marks around the actress’ eyes, cheeks and neck surfaced this week. The picture is a companion image to a soon-to-be-released coffee table book by Sarah Gristwood to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Truman Capote’s classic movie.
The New York Post reports that a grease pencil got a work out on the classic beauty’s face to make the picture ready for cinemas all over the world.
Gallery: Age Shall Not Weary Them
Take a look closely at the before and after picture below and you will notice that the skin on her chin has been smoothed out and fine lines under the eyes removed. Even the timeless beauty of Audrey Hepburn was deemed imperfect to the art director.
What do you think? Do you think Audrey’s face needed to be smoothed out? Do you love Breakfast At Tiffany’s? Share your thoughts?

No I don’t think that her face needed smoothing out. She is a timeless beauty. I remember reading an article on her when she was sick and in her later years. She sold all her jewellery and gave the funds to help feed starving children. Yes she was aged but still a timeless beauty. If I compare her to her step sister Katherine Hepburn, she beats her hands down. The bone structure of her face, cheeks, eyes and chin are chiseld. She epitomises a godess in the making. Why can’t real beauty be left alone. Why does someone have to change the real person. We all age and sag, it’s a fact of life and so it was with Audrey. Sure actors/actresses have money and spend all they want on making themselves look good or change aspects of themselves, but that just ends up making them look plastic. I have always thought she was beautiful and in no need of altering. Here’s to you Audrey, a beautiful name for a beautiful lady. May you rest in peace.
