Secret Of Pippa’s Perfect Posterior

Posted: Wednesday 18 May 2011 09:05am

As Kate Middleton ascended the steps of Westminster Abbey on April 29, every inch the fairytale royal bride,  all eyes were on … her sister’s bottom.

In a lustrous column of Alexander McQueen silk, matron of honour Pippa Middleton, 27, cut a stunning silhouette as she sashayed behind, carrying her sister’s train.

“Her Royal Hotness”,  as she was immediately dubbed, almost hijacked the Royal Wedding and Princes Phillip, soon to turn 90,  and Harry, 26, were fairly ogling their new in-law as they left the Abbey.

Within hours, Pippa’s bum had become a global sensation and now has fan sites (with such tasteful titles as “Pippa’s Ass” ) in its honour.

Since the  royal wedding, British surgeons have reported a 60 per cent increase in requests for buttock lifts. One clinic has even created the “Pip Package Perfect Posterior”, which can cost up £8000 ($12,000).

But now the secret of Pippa’s perfect posterior is out … Pilates. Her Royal Hotness attends  Pilates classes  near her home in Parsons Green, London,  and has posted a testimonial on the studio’s website: “‘As someone who is always ‘on the go’, Pilates has been a wonderful escape from my busy lifestyle in London.

‘Whether it’s 7am in the morning or 7pm at night I always leave feeling calm, refreshed and invigorated.

“Over the past few months I have noticed a huge difference in my core strength and posture and couldn’t recommend Margot more highly as an instructor.

“From breathing techniques, muscle toning to overall flexibility and relaxation, my Pilates sessions have become something of a weekly necessity that keeps me fit, happy and energized.”

Pilates is s a system of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s; a highly sophisticated approach to training the body that seeks to develop core strength and stability rather than muscular bulk .

It is particularly effective for improving posture (which automatically creates the illusion of being slimmer), flattening abs and toning buttocks. The exercises are done on a mat or utilising various pieces of resistance equipment.

Pippa, who works for her parents’ company as a party planner, has always been athletic like sister Kate. She won a sports scholarship at exclusive British boarding school Marlborough College and thrives on cardio workouts including swimming, jogging, tennis and skiing.

And, let’s face it, the Middleton gals have good genes. Mum Carole is trim and youthful at 55, and could almost pass as her daughters’ older sister.

Exercise and I have never been great friends but I do Pilates and swear by it.

After practising yoga for 12 years, I took a Pilates class instead three years ago when the yogi didn’t front. I was hooked.

Over the next few months I saw my body change and discovered stomach muscles I never knew I had. I stood straighter, felt stronger and more toned,. Best yet my clothes fit better, especially around the waist.

The wonderful thing about Pilates is that anyone can do it – age is no barrier (think the old adage, “use it or lose it”), nor do you have to be super fit.

It’s tough at first (in fact, it really never gets any easier because, as your body adapts and you do the moves with greater precision, your muscles have to work even harder accordingly) but it you persist you won’t look back. Except at a much perter posterior.

Once a week maintains results, but 2-3 times a week is ideal. I prefer the mat classes. You don’t need fancy gear and it’s all over in an hour. And that’s the kind of exercise I like!
